Ingredients:- 4 ½ teaspoons instant dry yeast
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ cup flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup butter softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- â…“ cup sugar
- 1 large egg well beaten with a fork
- 4-5 cups flour ( I used close to 5)
- 1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- Topping
- ¼ cup melted butter (in one small bowl)
-
- The following in another small bowl
-
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- 4 Tablespoons parsley
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
-
Combine yeast, 1 tsp sugar and ½ cup flour in large mixing bowl. (I use my Kitchenaid with the dough hook.) Add the warm water and stir to moisten all the dry ingredients. Let sit while getting other ingredients ready.(About 15 minutes) Add the warm milk, softened butter, salt, sugar and beaten egg. Stir until combined. Gradually add the flour and parmesan cheese until it forms a ball that isn't too sticky. Knead for about 6 minutes.
-
-
Place the dough in a bowl sprayed with Pam turning the dough over so both sides are oiled. Cover with plastic wrap and towel. Let raise for about an hour.
-
-
Punch the dough down and divide the dough in half. I made twelve rolls from each half by cutting each half in half and half again. Then I cut the four sections into three and formed them into balls. You should get 24 rolls.
-
-
Dip each ball into the melted butter and then the top in the parmesan, parsley, garlic mixture. Place twelve rolls in a sprayed 9x13 pan. (I used metal 9x13 cake pans but I'm sure glass would work.) Repeat with the other half of dough.
-
-
Cover pans with plastic and towels again. Let raise 45-60 minutes. They should be touching when ready to cook.
-
-
Bake at 375° for 20 minutes. They brown very quickly so I had to cover loosely with foil about half way through cooking so they don't get too dark.
