Ingredients:
  • Box of pickling cucumbers (Short and fat) (Don't cut off ends)
  • Alum
  • Uniodized salt
  • Cider Vinegar 5% acidity
  • Dried red pepper
  • garlic
  • water
  • dill heads (dill that is starting to go to seed)
Directions:
  1. Prepare jars
  2. Mix brine by combining 1 cup uniodized salt with 5 quarts water and 1 ½ quart cider vinegar. Bring to boil.
  3. In each jar, add ¼ teaspoon alum, 1-2 pieces dried red pepper, 1 clove of garlic
  4. Fill with cucumbers alternately with a couple heads of dill
  5. Cover with brine
  6. Put lids on and put in hot water bath for 20 minutes. Start counting time as soon as bottles are immersed.
  7. Open after 3-4 months
