Ingredients:- 4 cups of flour
- 1 heaping teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon yeast
- 1 ½ cups very warm water
Directions:
-
Combine the four ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
-
Cover with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 8-24 hours.
-
At least two hours before you want to eat the bread (this can be made up early in the day to free up your oven around dinner time) stir the dough and dump onto a well-floured surface.
-
Form the dough into a ball.(If you form the ball on parchment paper, it will be much easier to transfer to the preheated pan.)
-
Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes.
-
While the dough is resting, turn oven to 450° and place a pot with high sides into the oven. (If you don't have a pan with high sides with handles that can withstand the high temperature, just use a flat heavy cookie sheet. It will turn out fine!)
-
After 30 minutes, cut an X or three slashes into the top of the ball.
-
Spray the preheated pot with cooking spray after preheating if you don't use parchment paper and carefully transfer the ball of dough to the pot.
-
Cover with foil.
-
Cook for 30 minutes.
-
Remove foil and allow to cook another 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
-
Dump onto a cooling rack.
-
Allow to cool before cutting or it will smash.

Note: I saw another similar recipe that was double this that you can keep in your fridge for a week and when you want to eat it, just pull out either enough for just one loaf or cook both at the same time. Follow the same directions for preparing.
